About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cloud Architect with a passion for data and its applications to join our growing team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and data-driven cloud solutions on AWS and GCP platforms. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, application developers, and other stakeholders to ensure our data-driven applications and big data pipelines run efficiently, cost-effectively, and empower informed decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Data-Centric Architecture:

• Architect robust, scalable, and data-optimized cloud solutions on AWS (Heavy) and GCP, aligning with best practices, security principles, and data governance requirements.
• Design and implement cost-effective cloud solutions optimized for data processing, storage, and analytics workloads, considering data app demands and big data needs.
• Conduct thorough assessments of existing data infrastructure (on-premises or cloudbased) for potential migration, focusing on data pipelines, processing requirements, and data governance compliance.
• Develop cloud migration strategies and roadmaps for data infrastructure and data apps, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.

Data App Enablement:

• Collaborate with application developers to understand their data app requirements and design tailored cloud solutions that support performance, scalability, and seamless data integration.
• Implement and manage cloud infrastructure components specific to data app performance, including high-performance computing, distributed storage, data lakes, databases, and caching solutions.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) and integrate with CI/CD pipelines for data app development and deployment.

Big Data Expertise:

• Design and implement efficient big data processing pipelines on the cloud, leveraging platforms like AWS Kinesis, Google Cloud Dataflow, or other relevant technologies.
• Configure and manage cloud storage solutions (data lakes, object storage) optimized for big data volumes and analytics needs.
• Monitor and optimize cloud performance for big data workloads, focusing on resource efficiency, cost optimization, and data processing pipeline effectiveness.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Proactively communicate cloud architecture decisions, implementation plans, and potential risks to data scientists, application developers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies and best practices relevant to data apps and big data, sharing knowledge with the team through presentations, training sessions, or documentation.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures for cloud-based data assets.

Essential Skills:

• 4+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect or a related role with a strong emphasis on data infrastructure and applications.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions on AWS and GCP.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure components, including networks, storage, compute, security services, and their role in data-driven applications and big data processing.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, particularly in the context of data apps and big data pipelines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools in a data app and big data context.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for data app and big data workloads.

Desired:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent.
• Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, data lake, and big data processing technologies on the cloud (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Understanding of data governance frameworks and regulations.
• Experience with machine learning platforms and services on the cloud.
